When we tested this the mechanic was really surprised and said “That was a nightmare to get off, it took me half an hour”

Please Follow all the Instructions Below for Best Performance

The Civic Defender is designed to prevent the ignition from being accessed by thieves.

You will have to remove the lower steering column cover. There are some internal clips that you can squeeze and the bottom will come down

There are three screws that you can see from the bottom of the lower steering wheel cover.

You should then see the ignition. The steering column adjustment lever needs to be lowered as shown to remove the lower cover.

These two screws are the weak point in the ignition system. We aren't going to show you how to steal the car, just trust us on this one.

Now install the Civic Defender by hooking it over the top of the ignition and then sliding it so the hole lines up.

The hook part will prevent it from being pulled straight off.

Now the supplied screw needs to be installed, screw in tightly.

    The next steps are

    ***CRITICAL***

and if not completed the rest of your work won't have much effect. This next step takes 10 mintes and

    CANNOT

    be interrupted.

You will be working from below the ignition, so position yourself so you can see the screw you just put in to hold the Civic Defender in place.

You are going to open the supplied epoxy putty and put it in the screw you installed to hold the Civic Defender. The epoxy is a hand-mixable, steel-reinforced, non-rusting epoxy putty that quickly repairs or rebuilds anything made of metal. After mixing, it forms an industrial-strength polymer compound that can be molded into shapes or used to build up, patch and repair steel components. The epoxy sets in 3-5 minutes and after 60 minutes is as resistant as steel to being drilled, tapped, machined, ground, or filed. It cures to a dark grey color, is rated at a tensile strength of 900 PSI and will withstand temperatures up to 3000 F.

    Cut open the bag.

Knead the epoxy putty with fingers.

Thorougly knead the epoxy putty with fingers to a uniform color.

You now have approximately 3 to 5 minutes of working time before it becomes too hard. Below is an example of the screw, yours may look slightly different.

Press the epoxy into the screw and fill up all slots in the screw head.

It does't matter if you leave a little epoxy on the screw head, but the more you clean it off, the harder it will be for theives to pick out of the slots.

It should look similar to this from below.

Warranty: Take a picture from the bottom of the ignition prior to installing the cover so you can demonstrate you put the epoxy in. If your car is stolen, send us the picture and a copy of the police report and we will refund your purchase price.

In the event you need to remove the ignition you can use a dremel or similar tool to cut a slot into the screw or you can pick out the epoxy (But it is a pain in the neck to pick out) and use a screw driver

Replace the lower steering column cover by screwing in the two screws as shown
